birthday celebrates past and future. It’s a time when many find
themselves reflecting on all they’ve accomplished — and looking
forward to new discoveries and experiences that will make life even richer.
It’s been no different for Indiana
University–Purdue University Fort Wayne, as it celebrates 40
years in northeast Indiana.
The university has made great strides in the past four decades. Building on the foundation of two internationally renowned universities, Indiana and Purdue, IPFW has grown into a remarkable institution with its own identity. The university has educated thousands of students and become a community cornerstone.
IPFW has accomplished so much in 40 years. From the beginning, we’ve played a major role in the life of this community. Our focus on regional partnerships has enhanced the area’s quality of life, and at the same time, we’ve provided an excellent education to residents of northeast Indiana — nearly 40,000 of them have earned degrees with us.
Having come this far, IPFW has much to look forward to. This year, the university opens student housing, adding a new dimension to student life on campus. More construction is planned for coming years, including buildings to house IPFW’s superb music and medical education programs. IPFW now offers more degree options than ever before — more than 180 — and plans to add to that number. And the university looks to expand its community partnerships to support the region’s academic, cultural, and economic development.
IPFW makes northeast Indiana a better place to live. We nurture innovation. We nurture the community. And we’re nurturing the next generation of leaders who will guide Indiana in the coming years.
As IPFW celebrates its 40th anniversary, I invite you to participate in a yearlong celebration that includes numerous exciting events. A birthday party will kick off the anniversary year on Sept. 14 in the Walb Student Union plaza.
